I love books which inspire me to seek out a definition, a history, consult an atlas, whatever. I first read this book three or four years ago. Even more so than the first time, I found it one of the most enchanting accounts of bravery and redemption I have ever read. This book goes beyond the pale in its intelligence and originality. I am grateful to authors who refuse to "dumb-it-down" so oft found in contemporary novels. I hope the author finds it in his heart, and time, to produce a sequel. A hearty ten stars.Product details

This was a gripping story. Highly recommended for every one I believe this book will become a classic and I'm awaiting more from this author

Although, I must say, 'rooves' is now archaic. Roofs is more accepted. -)
I found this book by accident as Tara, Brett's wife, mentioned it to me and I am so glad she did. So different from any thing I have read before. Very entertaining , Brett is truly talented and has done his research well. Look forward to the next book.

I read this book because I know the author's wife. I'm such a fan of stories, and I believe that we should value them more, so when I heard Brett had not only finished his novel, but was self-publishing it, I purchased it as a show of support for that. I did not, I must admit, expect to enjoy it as much as I did. It had me thinking. It had me flipping back through pages asking questions. And it has me eagerly awaiting what is to come next from this author. I didn't get as many answers as I might have liked, but I'm hoping that means that this isn't the last I have seen of this intriguingly named character and the organisation he comes across!
Unlike the majority of books I have read over the past few years this book must be read very carefully, in order not only to appreciate the intricacies of the plot but also to fully grasp the resolution. I appreciated this as I consider good fiction to be (and entertainment more broadly) that which engages the mind; a plot that makes you think rather than a story offered for passive consumption - which is something that Dark Matter certainly does. I further enjoyed the authors turn of phrase and his detailed descriptions, although some descriptions may be overly ornate at times. I wish the book was longer to draw out and develop some aspects of the plot, however there's always room for a sequel. In sum, I thoroughly recommend this book to the careful reader who wishes to earn their enjoyment.
I loved the originality of Dark Matter, something I don't find all that often in stories. This is an intelligently and well written novel that is part thriller, part mystery, and even a hint of the paranormal (if that's the right word). I agree with a previous reviewer that to get the most out of this story you need to give it your attention - this is not mindless pulp - and the second chapter certainly throws a curveball at you. The reward though, is an excellent and intriguing story - one that will have you guessing wrong on more than one occasion.
I love reading this novel.
It describes wonderful worlds our brains can create and their limitless horizons. Rasputin was such a relatable character when it came to dealing with his emotions; the supporting characters are also believable. The story grabs you from the beginning, and forces you to entertain the endless possibilities locked away in one' s mind. The story appears disconnected in the beginning for the reader follows two different protagonists, but the author brings it together well in an climax that does not disappoint.
I felt satisfied at the end and would read more from Brett Adams. I highly recommend Dark Matter to all.
